Mother is terrified over talks of peace.

just spoke with my mother about the summit for north and south korea, her face turned a ghastly pale and she refused to talk to me about it afterwards.

i know exactly what is on her mind, and i'm not sure if i can say or do anything to assuage her fears about this being a fulfillment of prophecy.

any suggestions on what i could perhaps tell her to try and steer her from her line of thinking?

Remind your mum about when USSR collapsed. The day when Americans and Russians thought they will leave in peace. The day when communist regimes where falling a part and all world was turning into one big family. The day when many witnesses thought Jehova himself destroyed USSR as no one on the planet could have guessed that, even Americans. The day when many witnesses thought that JW work will be allowed not only in Russia, but in China etc. So what do we have now? USA and Russia continue to fight. All world didn't became one family and countries continue to hate each other. JW dreams of whitnessing in China fully collapsed. But GB doesn't care about 1 billion people! that didn't get the good news and the Armagedon will come despite of that. Wealth, Poverty, and Morality

i am interested in the approach this forum takes to money.

apart from sex, (which i am quite relaxed about) it seems to me that wealth is the surest divider between those who are moral, and those who are not.. it seems jesus thought so, also.

luke 16:19-31 kjv describes well enough his dusty attitude to the rich who do not succour the poor.. and this world has many poor: so many, it might seem that we can do nothing about it, and twist his words; 'the poor ye shall have always with you, but me, ye shall not have always.

You raise a very difficult question. Many philosophers thought about it. Taking money from the rich and giving it to the poor wont solve the problem for a long time. What are the problems we as people can't solve?

1. Human nature. Laziness. There are a lot of people who are lazy. Rich or poor. But to live in an equal world everyone has to give their energy and time.

2. You would have to move people from areas that dont produce anything. A farmer from South Carolina will produce five times more than a farmer from Siberia. Hence American farmer is already richer by doing the same work.

3. How much money will you give to artists and scientists? The experience of USSR shows that when people don't get big money for their developments they stop to create. In USSR a scientist would get 500 rubles, but a builder 300 rubles. One of the reasons USSR collapsed is because the country stopped producing innovation. The reason is people lost creativity as there was nothing that would stimulate them.

4. We love freedom. What will you do with people who want 10 children? It is obvious that they won't be able to educate all of them, but that is their choice. Will you stop freedom.

I think you need to read books on communism. Communists themselves came to a conclusion that at the moment we can't create equal world. Maybe later when we will use robots for manual work. But that is still maybe

why did they emphasize the counsel and not the fact that those who were watching movie should have followed christ counsel at mathew 5 go to your brother instead they ratted on the guy to an elder and let him do dirty work.wow just totally ignore jesus words..

The problem is that there are a lot of people that think that a position with in a congregation means something. I know a brother who was a great guy, but one day he decided he wants to be an elder. He fully changed and lost all his character. And as soon as he had a chance to tell on someone he didn't hesitate. He was doing anything just look good in front of CO. Sometimes I think when people can't succeed outside the KH they turn into horrible people who want to establish themselves in the Organisation and these type of people GB loves. As these people will sell their own parents just to get a tap on their head from the CO

If you see that the cult members avoid their disfellowshiped family members. For example I know a family where parents dont talk to their daughter for many years. Insane behaviour. And by doing so they think they serve God. Most likely in Gods eyes people who behave like that are some sort of creatures that lost all of their human qualities.

Are You Proud of Your Country?

some people are of the opinion that it doesn't make any sense to be proud of one's nationality because we had nothing to do with where we were born.

the decision wasn't ours.

they opine that it's ludicrous to be proud of our countries' prior achievements if we had no part in those achievements because we weren't even around then.

I am not just proud of my country I am proud of any country that is developing and moving forward. I was born in a country that doesn't exist anymore - USSR. I lived in Latvia. Now I live in UK, Wales. My wife is Welsh. My family/relatives live in - Latvia, Russia, Germany. I feel happy and proud about UK, Larvia and Germany as they are developing. But I feel sad for Russia as its totally lost the plot. I never connected countrie's past with my life. UK is not my motherland, but I feel passionate about it and because its my home I am trying to make it better by helping my neighbours, keeping the street clean and supporting local charities.

i've noticed in the past 10 years that the social support that used to be available in the congs, a shoulder to cry on, elders to help with family/marriage issues these seem to have been purposely withdrawn.

counsel is even heard from the platform that the elders are not there to help people with their problems.. so first in the 80s-90s they take away the congregation get to getters and social events and now they seem to be going one step further in taking away the emotional support for people too.. this will take away an aspect that i'm sure was keeping alot of people in the borg, the community support.

if that's not there and its just about meetings and ministry how many will start to get their emotional support elsewhere?.

Hi Spiral, I will paste what I wrote previously - The GB knows that no matter how many years will pass by there will be thousands of people who fall into their trap. Its like scams. There are still people who give their personal information over the phone or emails. People only learn on their own mistakes. So with every new generation JWs will get more followers that they will use and throw away. After that there will be next generation and so on...😪

Della street. Yes, the organisation is strange with strong women. If I would be GB I would allow women to be elders etc. The majority of members are women anyway. But the organisation is only looking for DESPERATE people. I came to congregation to study the Bible, not to find friends and attention. So when elders asked me "Don't you care what we think about you? You might lose your friends in the congregation" I replied "I came here to study the Bible. I already have family and friends and I don't care what you think about me. Can you please answer my questions? And if you cant can you please stop forcing me to believe you" After this conversation elders left me alone. Because they can't pull any strings. Sometimes I still go to the meetings. Maybe once in three months to see some of the people I like, mainly old folk. When I go inside the elders go nuts. Especially when I talk to new ones. The new ones ask me "Oh, I never saw you. With whom do you study?" And I tell them "I was baptised 15 years ago and I go to the meetings four times a year, but not the memorial that one is to difficult" 😂😂

In one way I understand elders. They are people and they need emotional support too. But where can they get it from? From the CO and bethel. But do they help elders. No, they don't. Every elder knows that he is being used and when he won't have any energy left they will get rid of him. I remember in my first congregation one elder was really good. He was a proper Jesus example, but at one point he started to have problems with work and became quite depressed. Instead helping the brother out, being patient with him. The CO told him if can't continue his duties he can't be an elder any more. Well a few years later this former elder took all his family abroad and I never saw him. The JW organisation is one of the worst. It is run by dry, emotionless, corporation minded people. They don't care about their members nor the staff. They suck all the juices out of the people. You might ask how does it still exist? The GB knows that no matter how many years will pass by there will be thousands of people who fall into their trap. Its like scams. There are still people who give their personal information over the phone or emails. People only learn on their own mistakes. So with every new generation JWs will get more followers that they will use and throw away. After that there will be next generation and so on...😪
